Following DOC-0016 and DOC-0017, Temporal Research's standing files record two parallel and unresolved explanations for the anachronistic readings: an observed-phenomenon theory (Ward) and an uncontrolled-equipment theory (Achterberg). Neither has been formally adopted or dismissed as of this entry.
